Research Summary
The available evidence base is primarily preclinical. Limited human exposure data exist: a small 2025 pilot study examined intravenous BPC-157 administration in two participants and reported no serious acute adverse events, but this study was too small to establish clinical efficacy, long-term safety, or a pharmacokinetic profile (Lee and Burgess 2025). No adequately powered, controlled human efficacy program was identified in this review, and animal findings should not be interpreted as established clinical benefit. A July 2026 Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee discussion was advisory only and does not constitute FDA approval or a final FDA determination.
