Enicepatide
Enicepatide (CT-388)
Evidence & Status
- Moderate
Overview
Enicepatide (CT-388) is an investigational, once-weekly peptide-based dual agonist of the GLP-1 and GIP receptors being studied for obesity and related metabolic conditions. Published work describes cAMP-biased signaling at both receptors, with minimal beta-arrestin recruitment and receptor internalization in experimental systems. It is not FDA-approved.
Research Summary
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 1 study evaluated once-weekly subcutaneous CT-388 in participants with obesity. The publication reported early weight-loss and glycemic findings, human pharmacokinetics supporting weekly administration, and a generally well-tolerated profile in which most treatment-emergent adverse events were mild or moderate. These findings do not establish long-term safety or clinical benefit.
