Oxytocin is an endogenous cyclic nonapeptide hormone. U.S. oxytocin injection labeling concerns specified obstetric uses; those labeled uses are separate from intranasal social-cognition research. A small experimental study reported increased trust-game behavior after intranasal oxytocin in its study context, and does not establish a treatment effect for psychiatric, developmental, or social conditions. Research Summary

Kosfeld et al. reported an intranasal oxytocin effect on trust-game behavior in a controlled experimental setting. That result is not evidence for a general increase in trust or for treatment of autism, PTSD, anxiety, or other conditions. The NCT05672667 registry record identifies a specific pharmacokinetic study and does not itself report therapeutic efficacy.
