Overview

Spermidine is an endogenous and dietary polyamine, not a peptide or an FDA-approved drug. A 2009 study supports preclinical autophagy and lifespan findings in model organisms. A separate 2016 source contains animal dietary-spermidine experiments and human dietary observational associations; those evidence streams must remain separate and do not establish supplemental spermidine efficacy or longevity benefit in people.

Research Summary

Eisenberg et al. (2009) is preclinical evidence. Kiechl et al. (2018) includes animal dietary-spermidine experiments and a human dietary observational association; observational association does not establish causation, and neither source establishes a supplemental-spermidine longevity intervention in humans.
